ENCOURAGEMENTS TO SUPPORT THE
SUSTAINABLE CHOICES FOR A BALANCED ISLAND
Our sustainable farming practices include a range of best practices that enhance our efforts and contribute to long-term ecological health. Through initiatives such as our CSA program, farm fresh eggs, companion planting, no-till gardening, and our food forest, we work to create a resilient and biodiverse environment. We never use synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, relying instead on organic practices and composting tea to nurture our soil. These techniques, along with our composting efforts, help us create a healthier planet by promoting soil health, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting the local community. Together, we strive to make sustainable choices that contribute to a well balanced island.

“Living out the legacy of our multi-generational family farm and garden through stewardship & sustainability. Motivating inspirational creativity through nature, education and hands on practices.”

THE DRAPER FAMILY FOUNDATION
The Draper Family is dedicated to advancing sustainable practices and elevating ecological resilience within the Block Island community. We provide funding and support to local farmers, educators, and organizations that share our commitment to sustainability, including initiatives such as composting, organic farming, no-till gardening, companion planting, and the care of animals. By empowering individuals and groups to adopt these best practices, we aim to enhance soil health, reduce environmental impact, and promote biodiversity. Our mission is rooted in the belief that small, mindful actions can create significant, long-lasting change, benefiting not only the environment but also the health and well-being of our local communities. Through collaboration and shared resources, we strive to inspire a more sustainable future for Rhode Island and beyond.
