ABOUT THE CSA PROGRAM

The 1661 Resort is proud to connect our community with fresh, locally grown produce through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainability, local farming, and fostering a healthy, vibrant community. Become a member of our affordable CSA program designed with convenience in mind. By signing up for the CSA Program, you receive vegetables whenever they are available and can be picked up directly at the 1661 Farm & Gardens.

Our CSA shares feature a variety of fresh, basic garden vegetables, such as: Zucchini, Swiss Chard, Lettuce Mix, Kohlrabi, Parsley, Basil, Kale, Beets, Radish, Tomatoes and more.

You can find the expected harvest overview for each month on the website and will be shared regularly through email and social media.

FROM LAND TO SEA

Local Oyster Farming

With the acquisition of a local oyster farm off the coast of Block Island, The 1661 Resort deepens its commitment to place-based hospitality—extending our stewardship beyond the farm and gardens and into the surrounding waters. This new chapter allows us to harvest fresh, island-grown oysters directly from the local ocean, creating an authentic connection between our guests and the table. Served at the resort’s premier restaurant, The Oar, each oyster reflects the purity of the waters from which it’s drawn — crisp and unmistakably local. As we continue to care deeply for our beloved farm and gardens, we now turn our attention to the sea. This evolution felt natural—a gentle tide pulling the Draper family closer to their longstanding values of sustainability and thoughtful sourcing.

TRY OUR OYSTERS

Harvested from Our Waters

The 1661 Resort is proud to steward a local oyster farm, providing The Oar with fresh oysters harvested directly from Block Island waters. This farm-to-sea approach ensures peak freshness while supporting responsible aquaculture practices that help strengthen the surrounding marine ecosystem. From soil to shoreline, every decision we make is rooted in respect for the land and sea that sustain us.
