THE 1661 RESORT
Sea Harvest
FROM LAND TO SEA
LOCAL OYSTER FARMING
With the acquisition of a local oyster farm off the coast of Block Island, The 1661 Resort deepens its commitment to place-based hospitality—extending our stewardship beyond the farm and gardens and into the surrounding waters. This new chapter allows us to harvest fresh, island-grown oysters directly from the local ocean, creating an authentic connection between our guests and the table.
Served at the resort’s premier restaurant, The Oar, each oyster reflects the purity of the waters from which it’s drawn — crisp and unmistakably local. As we continue to care deeply for our beloved farm and gardens, we now turn our attention to the sea. This evolution felt natural—a gentle tide pulling the Draper family closer to their longstanding values of sustainability and thoughtful sourcing.
