Balancing the Body: An Introductory Yoga Workshop
Hotel Manisses, Block Island, RI,
Full Yoga Retreat, August 23rd-27th, 2010
Escape Retreat, August 23-25th, 2010

Most of us live in a state of imbalance. Yoga is practice of bringing ourselves back into balance through awareness of our selves and our surroundings. Join Gwendolyn Alker for a yoga workshop on beautiful Block Island where we will use breath, movement and alignment to come back into harmony with ourselves. Block Island is a pristine beach community twelve miles off the coast of Rhode Island.

The workshop will include a morning class of dynamic poses and breath work, geared towards bringing you back into anatomical and mental balance. Each afternoon, we will delve into a specific topic in more depth. Subjects for afternoon classes may include yoga philosophy, anatomy, restorative yoga and the ability to take your practice “off the mat.” This retreat will give you an opportunity to deepen your own practice.

The rest of your day may be spent enjoying the beauty of Block Island. Many activities are available including walking trails, going to the beach, biking, kayaking, horseback riding and more.

All levels are welcome. Please email Gwendolyn at gwendolyn.alker@nyu.edu with any questions about the workshop.
