We decided to visit Block Island on a whim. Didn't know where to stay and chose The 1661 House out of sheer ignorance. What a wonderful suprize! We've stayed at many B&B's throughout New England and never have we been so comfortable and felt so welcome! Even in February, the beach is gorgeous. Our room was absolutely beautiful. We had a quiet, relaxing three nights at the 1661 Inn. It was our first time visiting the Island during the winter months and the 1661 Inn and our room was all that we asked for. A very enjoyable time! Antonio's breakfast spread in the morning was fantastic! We can't wait to visit again. |

Being this was my first visit to Block Island, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but from the ride on the Montauk Ferry, with Capt. Ed, to checking in with Lorene, and our island tour with Steve, we had the best time. The hotel is magnificent ( and we checked out almost every one on the island. The food...everything wa top-notch. We want to thank you for your hospitality and thw warmth of your people and establishment.. We are definately future guests ( in fact, on Columbus Day weekend) and, about the only problem we will have is trying to decide which of the beautiful rooms we want to stay in...Again, thanks.. look forward to the next time.. |

We visited in May, 2003. We were picking up our son from the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport. Being from the coast of NC we are of course addicted to islands and decided that this would be a nice interlude before we headed home. The 1661 (and Block Island)is one of those rare places which is exactly what it claims to be, "A gracious Inn, welcoming adults and children alike". It was a special weekend that we will long remember as a family. Thank you to all the people who made our stay special, two-foot and four!! |

My wife and I just celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in the cozy Dodge Cottage, just down the road from the Hotel Manisses. The room was very comfortable and was in walking distance to the Old Harbor,where we enjoyed shopping and taking in the beauty of Block Island. A "must do",after your dinner, is to have a flaming coffee in the parlor. The making of your beverage is as exciting as the taste. We cannot think of a better place to stay and enjoy what the Drapers have to offer. |

Our first visit to Block Island and the 1661 Inn was almost 30 years ago when our family was escorted by Justin Abrams on the ferry ride during a rough storm one Friday evening. When we entered the Inn, wet, sea sick and travel weary, Joan's warm, welcoming smile and gracious personality brought us back to life once again; not to mention the sumptuous supper provided for us. After a very restful sleep, we awoke the next morning to a crystal clear sky and brilliant sunshine which set the tone for the entire weekend. It was just lovely. We will always remember our wonderful stay at the 1661 Inn. Although we are now retired at the New Jersey Cape, we hope to return to Block Island again to enjoy its beauty and see Justin and Joan once more. |

Our first stay at the 1661 Guest House was during a surprise early March Snowstorm in 2001. Stranded on the Island, my husband and I had one of the two rooms still inhabited that weekend, and were treated like royalty. We have since been back twice and every stay has been even more delightful. Thank you for your kindness and care for your guests in any climate. |

My husband and I got married June 22, 2002. Everyone who came was from Pa., NJ,Va.,and NY. None of them have ever been to BI. We had the ceremony on the patio of the 1661 and the reception immediately followed. The food was the best people ever had at a wedding...no rubber chicken! All of the guests stayed at the Inn and the Guest House. Some stayed at The Manisees. Everyone loved the accomodations, the food and the hospitality. The view is AWESOME! We had the rehearsal dinner at the Manisees where I highly recommend a flaming coffee. They have the best food on the island. My husband and I stayed in the Edwards room the night of our wedding. It was beautiful...2 stories with a hot tub and a HUGE porch. We can't wait to go back. Thanks for everything! |

M husband and I stayed in the Tosh room last June and loved it. We are planning to come back for an anniversary celebration soon. The room was gorgeous, the service impeccable and the views and ambiance unbeatable (not to mention a fantastic breakfast buffet). I have been to many "luxery" hotels, but this one was the most luxurious and self-indulgent of them all. |

Booked my stay in Late Sept, took my daughter for a one day trip preview (last week) to have some quality time with her alone and loved this place!!! For those of you who havent seen it yet in person its beautiful, has a convenient location, and is close to the beach and town. I cant wait for my stay coming up :) Great job on the site also...
One small but useful tip for everyone Bring your cell phone, if you go to the bluffs or anywhere outside of town you might need to use it to call a cab! see ya all again soon :)

Ten years as Night Manger at Hotel Hershey I must say the service at the 1661 Inn Hotel Manisses is outstanding, Rita even let me use her van to tour the Island.

children. We named our youngest William Dodge and we are related to the Dodge family through my Great Grandmother. Her name was Annie Dodge. I have
a book of names in the family dating to Tristram, one of the original 16 settlers to purchase and inhabit to island in 1661.
